Today I heard a news report on the radio, you know, one of those "government studies" that informs the ignorant among us mere serfs of things like how whales like to mate and the ratio of males to female in the classrooms, how many teachers are gay, that sort of thing. The kind of study that makes you scratch your head and say "They had to HIRE someone to figure that out?!" or...."Who thinks up this stuff???!"

Well today's little "government tidbit" made me flip my lid.

For a long time, I've been wondering WHY it is that the federal idiots inserted themselves into our local lunch programs and school cafeterias.

I hate to sound like an old-timer, but really! Back when I was a kid, local schools ran their own school lunch programs and the food was REAL, and it was GOOD, and it was HOT and there was a nice VARIETY.

There were actual MOMS in that cafeteria kitchen working like crazy, aprons on, to make us a nice hot lunch and on Fridays, they baked REAL, GOOD, HOT cookies! YUM! Then, once lunch was over, there was the smell of bleach and the sound of dishes crashing and banging as the whole mess was cleaned up and dishes washed and put away for tomorrow!

For some reason, though, the schools were urged into giving up control (the "School Lunch Program"!) and told that if they were going to accept federal money to feed poor children, then they had to abide by federal guidelines and the fed told them what, how much, and who to feed. (We are all aware of how the federal government likes to solve problems that AREN'T THERE, that no one asked them to solve, in ways that make no sense and that ultimately are not good for any involved in the situation.)


They re-regulated every single area of the food service in schools so much so that they school lunch programs OUGHT to be called the "federal school frozen food re-heating center". Ask me, I know. I've worked in the lunch rooms and see the absolute garbage they ask our children to eat.

The food is not hot, it is not good, it is not nutritious, and it is not pretty. I daresay the evidence would suggest that since the interference of "federal lunch programs" and the invention of "convenience foods" our children have not gotten healthier. Our lunch rooms, mandated with federal law, have not helped in the goal of healthier children at all, and in fact are contributing to their problems!

I'm not that old and I recall this about our (locally controlled) school lunch rooms.

1. You could smell good home-cookin' the minute you entered the school in the morning. What a welcoming smell, (real) baked chicken and (real) mashed potatoes with green beans, and the followed by (real) apple pie! WOW!

2. We ate off of real dishes and used real silverware, yes, it had to be washed, but that's what the lunch ladies did!

3. We ate hot, nutritious food and your drink choices were water, milk, or orange juice. All major food categories were very well represented on your tray, therefore reinforcing what you learned about nutrition in your lessons.

4. Following lunch, we (in orderly fashion) would turn in our trays, drop our dishes and silverware in big tubs, and run outside for a nice long recess. (I am sure there were far fewer problems with concentration at that time!)

5. THERE WERE NOT 1-3 main entrees. THERE WAS ONE. It was plopped onto your tray and you were expected to eat it. They didn't care if little McKenzie didn't like green beans. If you didn't eat well, the lunch ladies knew it. And, more than likely, your mom would find out and you'd be in trouble....because mom and dad were paying for it!


And, from my experience volunteering in the school lunchroom, this is what we have after years of federal intervention, mandated to our local schools for the "good of the children".




1. "Lunch" is just pre-packaged, mostly frozen entrees pulled out of boxes and thrown on a tray and into the oven, it's rare that ANYTHING is fresh or made from scratch or is REAL food. The food looks lifeless and colorless, and is not bright, fresh, aromatic and appetizing.

2. The children eat off paper or Styrofoam and use plastic silverware, a new set, every day, thereby voiding any "earth friendly" lessons they may have learned that day, all the waste goes directly, needlessly, to landfills.

3. They have a lukewarm lunch of substandard nutritional value--mostly PROCESSED FOODS, and therefore not filling--food. Fast food. Empty calories full of fat.

5. They are hurried through a lunch that is not appetizing (my child's elementary had FIFTEEN MINUTES!), and hurried out to the playground for a very short recess (again, fifteen minutes!).

6. There aren't a whole lot of dishes to do, but there's a whole lot of "garbage" and they hypocrisy of teaching "green" to these kids is lost on the ever-knowing all-intelligent federal government.

7. The trays that were heated then and used for serving this so-called food are then put away, to be pulled out again for tomorrow morning's "federally mandated school breakfast program" which is also packaged "goodies" like frozen french toast sticks dipped in sugary syrup.

8. There are anywhere from one-three main entrees per day for finicky eaters, and they're mostly all bad choices.

9. There may be small fresh salads (rather dull and lifeless looking!) and perhaps canned fruit or jello offered, but they are optional, they are not put onto any child's tray.

AREN'T you so glad your local schools caved to the feds and yielded control of their own fresh food, fruits, vegetables and baked goods for boxed, frozen foods to feed our kids and then we can medicate them into sitting still and "learning"...?

AND NOW.....for the BIG BREAKING NEWS of the day...Your FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HAS SWEPT IN AND DETERMINED THAT SCHOOL LUNCHES ARE TOO FULL OF EMPTY CALORIES AND FAT.

WOW! (Who would have thought THAT?)


And, I wonder what THAT STUDY COST that just plain old common sense would have told any MOTHER. (All they needed to do is ask one of us!)

And, we are supposed to believe that they know what's best for our HEALTH and our health care?

My Letter to Representatives in Congress

I'm not going to lie to you, writing this letter TOOK TIME. It was at least three hours from start to finish, and I STILL have to go to the post office and am going to pay to send it registered and require a signature showing that they received it. I doubt if I will get a reply, if nothing more than a form letter I'd be surprised. My senators and representatives RARELY vote outside the party line.

I encourage ALL OF YOU to fight this and know that the sacrifice of a couple of hours is NOTHING compared to what we will lose if this Obama Care goes through and you lose your freedoms. TYRANNY must be fought.

Find your representative's address here, and I've heard that emails and phone calls no longer matter. It must be a hard letter delivered through the mail. Let's hope it helps.

I am saddened to see the country going through this upheaval, (currently revolving around Government Health Care or Obama Care) but I am not surprised. For some time now, Washington has seen more than its share of politicians, yet too few STATESMEN.

Study up sometime, would you, on the difference between a STATESMAN and a POLITICIAN!
A Statesman represents the people where he hails from, and thinks that he should go serve his country with a term or two in Washington and then head back home to the life he loved before he entered politics: representatives were never meant to serve multiple decades and RETIRE from politics or DIE OF OLD AGE while they were in office!!!

Washington has refused to listen to the PEOPLE: you remember the PEOPLE? Those who the constitution specifies that Washington's power is DERIVED from! All of this you've done with less money to spend, it seems you find more and more and more to waste it on. And, with the six or so months of the new administration, we now OWE MORE THAN WE COULD EVER R EPAY! And, worse than that, we are indebted so deeply to a nation (China!) who is our ideological opposite and whose political differences are the very enemy of our way of life and our government.

We are at a crucial time in our nation's history, and your vote could turn out to be the difference between LIBERTY AND TYRANNY.

There is a reason why people are so upset about this "health care" plan and a huge expansion dominating interest in our lives and are told that we are better off with elitists in Washington D.C. making decisions about our very lives, people who have never met us, people who don't know us or our life stories.

These protestors at the Town Hall Meetings are Republicans and Democrats that oppose this power grab by our government and at your own peril do you ignore that!

The very freedom described in the Constitution is being COMPLETELY IGNORED by the majority of Congress and our President and Congressional leaders and it is alarming and shocking to see the level to which they'll take their misguided and socialistic policies and use it to browbeat the protestations of those who would dare raise their voices against Washington! We are called names by Pelosi and Hoyer and are asked by the White House to turn in those who are "spreading misinformation"! It's as if our government were at WAR WITH THE PEOPLE!

The founding Fathers fought to minimize the reach and control of a centralized and strong federal government, and they knew that outside of its legitimate functions (outlined in the Constitution!) government is NOT capable of doing anything well as a capitalistic economy in this country and that the free market is the best policy to rule so that our government hasn't got this sort of power over the people.

AND THAT'S WHY YOU SEE SUCH ALARM: you've crossed the line that has awakened those who normally are too busy working, raising their families and taking care of their homes to regularly participate in public policy and politics. You are seeing the results of your overstepping the bounds set out for you in the responsibilities given you by the people through the CONSTITUTION.

You fail to listen to the people, and you fail, then, to do what's right. YOU CANNOT AND BY DESIGN ARE NOT THERE TO BE ABLE TO SOLVE ALL THE PROBLEMS OF ALL THE PEOPLE. YOU ARE THERE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE CONSTITUTION IS ADHERED TO. Your oath was to UPHOLD the Constitution of the UNITED STATES.

You (Congress) has failed in your responsibility to listen to the people in TARP, the federal budget expanding by so much, the bailout of the auto companies, the government takeover/bailout of the insurance and the banking companies and NONE OF THE PREDICTIONS OF YOUR GOVERNMENTAL INTERFERENCE (USING OUR MONEY, earned and unearned for generations yet to be!) HAS HAPPENED YET THE WAY YOU PROMISED US IT WOULD HAPPEN. In short, we don't believe the PROMISES made to us by those in Washington!

Nothing has worked, and in most cases, your SOLVING those problems have CREATED MORE PROBLEMS or only rearranged the problems you purported to be solving!!!

Anytime "the people" oppose the "do-gooders" in Congress, we who oppose it are told that we are the "party of no" in an effort to shut us up. But we are against those entrusted with the power in that sacred document, the Constitution, who deceptively try to sell our lives down the drain, all for more power and more control. Social Security is broke; Medicare/Medicaid is costing more than the government ever dreamed it would and is also going broke, so the American people KNOW that the government IS NOT CAPABLE of affording to pay health care of all of those in America, legal or otherwise!!

Let me tell you something about this America that I grew up in: If you work HARD ENOUGH at anything, you can make it.

My husband and I are the story of MANY average Americans, who are proud of what we've been able to accomplish WITHOUT THE GOVERNMENT'S HELP in that:

Neither of us have had the privilege to be college educated; our fathers were working class men who made too much for scholarship loans/help, too little to afford college for all the kids.

Neither of us have NOT WORKED, unless voluntarily, all of our lives.

Neither of us have participated in any government program.

Neither of us have had anything more than a traffic ticket.

Both of us have watched our pennies, learned to take pride in being frugal.

WE OWE NO ONE.

Both of us have raised our own children,with none of them having anything more than a traffic ticket.

Both of us have bought (and completely paid for!) our own home, with no help from the government.

Both of us have raised our own gardens, and harvested it and preserved it to feed our family; all with no help from the government.

Both of us have watched as our government takes A HUGE PERCENTAGE of his hard-earned money (I quit working a while ago to stay home with our kids and watch the money and we've made it just fine!) to place a great percentage of it into the Social Security program, and MOST of that we'll never see because it won't be there for him to use when he needs it in ten years! It makes us FURIOUS. But if we could opt out of that? We could have bought a nice insurance for our twilight years and be JUST FINE and not have to worry.

Both of us have watched his contributions to the 401K program (the only retirement offered by his employer!) dwindle down to horrific levels in the past six months in fact, they are levels of twenty years ago.

WE KNOW that the reason for most of the "crises" in this country are DUE to the government's actions and control.

We DO NOT NEED GOVERNMENTAL INTERFERENCE IN OUR LIVES!

Go back to Washington in September and fight against governmental interference in our lives, and leave us alone to make our own destinies! A good start would be to REDUCE THE TAX BURDEN ON US and our FAMILIES!!!!!!!!!!

(Please watch the video ALL THE WAY through because Hannan tells us that as poor as the system is in the relatively SMALL country of Britain, (their country is about the size of our state of Oregon!) their health care administration is the THIRD LARGEST EMPLOYER IN THE WHOLE WORLD...showing you the MASSIVE SCALE of federal employees: and think of it, we would have that scale only MULTIPLIED because our population and our land mass in this country is so much larger.)

This fight is that important because with OBAMA CARE, we not only seal our fate as far as our liberty, our very health and welfare, we also seal the fate of this country, because Obama is NOT ONLY after the CONTROL he would have with the massive state control he'd wield, but the LASTING EFFECT, POLITICALLY of the bureaucratic voting bloc, that COULD NOT BE UNDONE.

If you've never done anything politically before, YOU MUST stop this from happening or hope to God that Texas or Alaska secedes so you can move there.

United State's population: 300 million

Our country's socialistic health care program would be the largest employer in the world and you would NEVER have a change of party in the White House or Congress again.

My sister's brilliant idea for a sign...she and my niece Katie did the artwork and as usual it's great. I contributed the lettering....

This sign was my idea....they come to me every now and then. I know Obama wants us all to depend on HIM...but at some point, that will become impossible. There are 300 million of us, and I know the government cannot take care of everybody! Seems like there were some revolutionaries long ago who knew this and because of them, an independent nation was born.

I liked this kid's idea for a sign...and his hat, too!

This is a beautiful young family that I know who came up just after we did and stood at the back with us...the kids were all dressed in red, white & blue and they'd been to a parade that morning and were heading to a lake that afternoon and to the fireworks, but took the time to come and protest and support the Constitution. That's the way to "train them up"!
